Are you going to join Elated in our battle to save the animals?  Vegan education doesn't have the huge fanfare or immediate validation that saving high profile individual animals does.  But each time you promote a vegan diet, you are saving animals.  A vegan saves 100 animals, every year!  That is a huge victory.  And although we can't see the poor angel pigs being freed from their gestation crates and allowed to nurture their piglets, or the loving mother birds freed from their battery cages now able to sit on their eggs, or the adorable calves who may now suckle from their mothers; this is exactly what vegan education does in reality.

Believe in your ability to change the world. You do have influence over the people you meet:

t Go Vegan
A vegan lifestyle is the single most important thing you can do for the environment, animals and yourself. Be a radiant, joyous, positive, energetic and healthy living example of the benefits of being a vegan. Others will want what you have.

t Vegan Evening
Invite friends round for a delicious vegan meal - surprise them with the huge variety of tasty vegan foods available. Show the people you love that you are not asking them to deprive themselves. Good times, scrumptious meals and satiating, nurturing food is .

t Practice Ethical Consumerism in Your Own Life
• Only finance cruelty-free practices with your purchases. Each time you buy a product, you finance the process that brought the product to you. Support ethical companies that care about animals, the environment and are truthful about the health benefits of their products.
• When you can't find what you want, ask for it. Demand pulls supply and YOU create the demand. Use your power wisely.

t Make Your Voice Heard
• Write letters to the press, the government, farmers, retailers and manufacturers.
• Call into radio chat shows.
• Request television programs that focus on compassionate lifestyles.
• Request your school to introduce humane education into the classrooms and in this way help build a compassionate society.

t Help Raise Awareness
Hand out literature to your friends, pin up pamphlets on notice boards, leave flyers in doctor's waiting rooms and libraries. Leaflet at concerts and varsities. All the literature available on the Elated table can be downloaded and printed from the Resources page.

t Host a DVD Evening
Show your friends a dvd that highlights the sentience vs commodity status of animals. Earthlings can be found online or at local video stores. For copies of dvd's distributed at the Elated stand contact us, or download them free from the Links page.

t Information tabling
Volunteer at the Elated stand. Visit the booking schedule and arrange to join us for an hour to hand out flyers and help veganise the world.
— Arrange to host your own information table at holistic lifestyle fairs, varsity eating areas, shopping malls, farmers markets, school events, speaker events, etc ...

Tips on tabling:
Always ask for permission first. Dress presentably to appeal to the mainstream public. Be punctual. Do not harass or argue with passersbys: its counterproductive and you will also be asked to leave. Let the confrontational people go on their way, you will be amazed at how many positive people you will meet at the table - save your energy for them.

t Grassroots Movement
Change the world one heart at a time. Power exists in the individual. Government legislation merely reflects the will of the people. Engage in non-confrontational discussions. Veganism is compassion in action. Be compassionate with people too!  View every person you meet as a potential vegan ally. Don't alienate them. Instead treat them with respect and kindness. Be prepared to have your viewpoints challenged and allow it to help you understand your own point of view better. Be sincere. You don't have to know every single fact about global warming and animal agriculture. Focus on the liberation from suffering for the animals and humans involved in the farming and slaughter business.

Vegan advocacy is not about winning arguments, its about creating a tipping point for a paradigm shift in personal consciousness. Honour the person's right to choose and offer them a safe place in which to achieve their transformation. You cannot persuade someone to your own point of view, you can only plant a seed of compassion and hope that one day it will grow into wondrous, compassionate action.
