Taking the veg pledge
The word "elated" means joyous. This is not about restrictions, its about liberation: giving the animals lives that are truly worth living and discovering the joy that is possible when we live a compassionate life. Once you "wake up" to the truth behind your food, the relief is immense. |

The necessary first step is to become a vegan. You wanna empower animals? You wanna do something for animals?
Stop eating them, wearing them, using them. Stop buying into the system of exploitation ... completely.

:: Newsworthy
Soya Yoghurt -- is it Vegan?
After a lengthy exchange with Woolworths it was clarified that the yoghurt culture for their soya yoghurt is grown in milk and as
such is not vegan. Beware of misleading labeling. Soya products do sometimes contain dairy products. Unless it says dairy free, it
probably isn't.
Free--range vs Battery Hens
Do free-range farms give the animals a better life? The answer from Peaceful Prairie Farm Sanctuary is a resounding no: |
| |
The 100 birds who were now gazing at the open sky for the first time in their lives, were industry trash,"spent" hens rescued from a "free-range" egg facility where they had endured a lifetime of physical,
social and psychological deprivation, females whose depleted bodies were no longer able
to churn out eggs at the unnaturally high rate of production they had been forced to sustain
all of their young lives".

Vegan Dogs and Cats
Is it possible to have vegan pets? According to various sources, the answer is yes - with a few nutritional guidelines.

The excellent text from Elisa Galgut's speech where she refutes the common reasons for eating and abusing animals. Elisa Galgut is
a professor of philosophy at UCT.
